FEST TOWER GANG
A long time ago in a tower not so far, far away…a group of guys would find themselves working in a tight work space over four days in October. This group would soon become the Fest Tower Gang.
It started in 2007, when Dan Deicher worked his Oktoberfest Race Weekend and was joined in the tower with Kevin Ramsell. Dan was the voice of Fest and Kevin was the writer/historian per se of the historical annual race event. While both were doing their jobs as professionally as they could, behind the scenes, it was a different story and a long lasting friendship developed from there.
A few years later, Bill Doc Niles, finally retired as a mid-pack La Crosse Late Model driver (with one feature win in his career) and he joined the gang, fitting in perfectly.
It wasn’t long after that when Paul Reichert won a writing contest to become the PR director for La Crosse Speedway and the fourth member of the group.
Oktoberfest was our official annual gathering with the motto, “Whatever happens in the tower, gets posted on social media.”
Renee Arneson Fredrickson became our tower dietician by providing us a plethora of freshed baked cookies every year.
Sadly, in 2022, Dan Deicher decided to leave the group to go solo, and like most lead singers in a successful band, has yet to be successful on his own. Will the band, ever get back together? Only time will tell.
